Hi, this is Mike Pettigrew, best selling author and serial entrepreneur since 1987 and I help ordinary people achieve extraordinary goals, but not in the way you might think. Now in the next few minutes in this short video, I'm going to share with you the power of affirmations. These are very simple things that you - statements you make to yourself aloud morning and evening with emotion. They have profound effects on your mind, your subconscious mind, and what was once impossible can suddenly become possible using these very simple - this very simple technique of affirmations. So affirmations, they really can change your life. And as I say they - they are concise statements you make yourself aloud frequently with more with emotion, preferably morning and evening when you wake up and before you go to bed. And the fact is repetition and emotion together programs your mind - you've been conditioned all your life by people repeating things to you all the time, whether it's advertisements on the TV or, uh, when you were at school, you were conditioned by your friends and your peers and the teachers and your parents have conditioned you.

Everyone's saying things to you all of the time. And if you hear the same thing again and again and again, and there's emotion present, it forms your beliefs. It forms your beliefs. So by the - by the time everyone reaches adult life, they have so much, uh, conditioning and so much inner baggage, so many limiting beliefs that it's a wonder anyone achieves anything. But these affirmations can completely reprogram your - your subconscious mind using the same principle, repetition plus emotion. So you can use affirmations to overcome fears and limiting beliefs - it can help you achieve a success or create a success mindset and it helps you to achieve your goals far faster. They're amazing. They really will speed up the achievement of your goals and they're very powerful affirmations, really work, really powerful. But you got to test them. Now this guy here is the French psychologist and pharmacist Emile Coue.

Uh, he lived, I don't know, maybe, but a hundred years ago. And he had, uh, he was a psychologist and his patients, um, he would get them to recite this affirmation morning and evening. These were psychiatric patients and some of them were very, very ill and he got them to recite this simplest sentence: "Every day in every way. I'm getting better and better". You might think, how can something so simplistic have an effect? It had a profound effect on his patients. And I don't know if he was copying someone else's work or if he literally stumbled on this thing about affirmations, but they, his patients got better. A lot of them anyway. So that's Emile Coue. So how do you create an affirmation? Well I've created other videos that go into this in a lot more detail, and this is a short video, it's only a summary, but, em, this is how you create affirmations to reprogram your mind.

Firstly, affirmations should be in the - I'll give you a couple of examples. So you see concretely how this is done. So affirmation should be in the present tense. They should be positive, they should be personal and preferably including the words I am, be specific. And they may include a time reference if necessary. Also include a feeling word like "I love" or "I'm grateful". Okay. They also include an action word like learning, enjoying, etc. And be concise - not too wordy. When I'm creating my own affirmations, uh, and I write them out and I construct an affirmation, it's usually, it's quite long. Later on after reword it and whittle it down until it's shorter. Okay. So what do you do with these affirmations? Well you repeat affirmations every morning and every evening with emotion while visualizing what it will be like once you've achieved your goal. Okay, so you're, you're showing your subconscious mind what it is that you want.

And that part of your mind then goes off literally and does your bidding. It's amazing. You find that ideas will come into your mind at the right place at the right time. And thoughts will come into your mind that you, you know, wouldn't have normally thought of. Once you give these instructions to your subconscious mind, your subconscious mind is in the control seat of your life. So once you tell your subconscious mind what you want, it starts guiding you. It's the inner guide, the inner wisdom that everyone has within them, that steers their life towards their goals. But if you don't use affirmations or if you don't know how to use your subconscious mind in a positive way, all your conditioning takes over, and takes you in a direction that you may not want. So that's what you do with these affirmations. Here's an example. For instance, if you, if you are very pessimistic a lot of the time, if you're very low on energy, well this is a simple affirmation that can help you get unstuck.

"Today I am full of energy and overflowing with joy". Now you may not be full of energy or overflowing with joy. Uh, you know, if you're, if you're very pessimistic and low on energy, you won't be feeling that. You'll think, you know, that's just fooling myself. You know, reciting that will have profound effects. If you repeat that sentence, that affirmation with emotion and you do it several times a day, you will feel different. You will feel different. Affirmations are profoundly powerful because they are engaging with your subconscious mind. This is the greater part of your mind. And if you don't direct your subconscious mind, it will direct you. Simple as that. And often in the ways that you don't want. Here's another example to make more money: "I am making $20,000 each month and deeply grateful for the abundance I'm receiving". Once again, you might think, how can that work?

Well, it won't work unless you take action. It won't work until, unless you take action, but at the same time, just reprogramming the mind is the very fundamental - It's the most fundamental step of all. If you just sort of stay in your house all of the time and expect your circumstances to change, they won't change no matter how many affirmations you, but if you get out there and you're using affirmations frequently life and all sorts of opportunities who fall into your lap. This is why people experience synchronicities or coincidences and it's important to create positive ones. Okay?
