Hi, this is Mike Pettigrew, bestselling author and serial entrepreneur since 1987 and I help ordinary people achieve extraordinary goals, but not in the way you might think. Now, in the next few minutes, in this short video, we're going to look at well - making excuses. Do you ever make excuses? I do from time to time. In fact, we all do it if we're completely truthful, but if we find ourselves making excuses a lot, it can sabotage all sorts of wonderful things in our future. And you know what? Making excuses really does wreck your life. If you're doing it frequently, it wrecks your life. So my message is above all, stop making excuses because you know what? It's so much easier to blame others, uh, or, or all sorts of different situations. Why we can't achieve something or why we're not able to do something. It's so much easier to point the finger.

And also the sad fact is that if we do this enough, repetition strengthens the tendency. And if the tendency is strengthened, we will get ourselves locked into a habit of always making excuses. I'm sure you've met plenty people like that. I certainly have. And you know, if you're making excuses all the time, well it sabotages your life and it pushes away all sorts of benefits, is it, you know, you may find yourself in certain situations where potentially wonderful things could happen, but because of your attitude, you know, and you'll always find that we can always find an excuse not to do something, even if it's literally some amazing opportunity is dropped into our lap. Okay? And also, well, if we do this a lot, life can become really frustrating and really monotonous if we're always pointing the finger and always making excuses and always blaming others.

Life becomes really frustrating. And you know what? At the end of one's life, if you, if you look at old people - old people, you know, the last few years of their life, and if they've gone through a really rough time and they've had this really blaming, eh, attitude - always making excuses. They usually end up almost always bitter and resentful with full of regrets, full of regrets. It's so sad. So if you have this tendency, please, you've got to stop making excuses because you know what? The fact is highly successful people do not make excuses. Okay, they make, - they may make a few, but it's not a very strong tendency in their life. They've overcome that and they take 100% responsibility. They take 100% responsibility and they take - keep taking action. So making excuses - it creates inaction. Taking a hundred percent responsibility allows one to make incredible breakthroughs. So if you ever find making excuses do, do these things, firstly, commit to yourself to taking 100% responsibility for the situation.

Even if it appears that someone else is to blame - you take 100% responsibility to change the situation. Okay? Number two, start living a life of no regrets. That means stop making excuses. You've got to start living a life of no regrets because as I say at the end of life, we all ask these questions of ourselves along the lines of: Did, did I really live? Did I? Did I really love and accept love? Did I really matter? And if you're making excuses all the time, the answers to those questions are not very nice and everyone asks these questions of themselves. And another great way of overcoming the ability to always make excuses is to use affirmations. Affirmations and affirmations are simply positive, empowering statements you make yourself morning - you make them aloud, morning and evening with emotion and this reprograms the subconscious mind. It changes your mindset and it gives you a much more positive outlook and attitude towards life.
