Now in the next few minutes, I'm going to be sharing with you some really helpful tools and suggestions and techniques to enable you to get ahead faster in life to achieve your goals. They don't know where to start and that they get frustrated because there's no clear pathway to achieving their goals. And many people try all sorts of different goal achievement systems and many of those systems don't work.
So when people tell me this, I, well the first thing I say is having a dream is not enough. Having a dream is not enough. You've got to take action steps. We all have dreams and so many people don't achieve their dreams because it just stays here in their mind. And unless you, unless you set a destination and you take action to get there, nothing much really happens. And it can be very dissatisfying and disempowering when you don't achieve what you want in life. It's a bit like a ship in a harbor, nothing much happens. But when the captain sets a destination, it then moves out into the sea heads towards its destination encounters all sorts of challenges. The Wind, the rain, the waves, but it achieves its destination. That's the great thing about goal achievement. When we set a goal, we set a clear destination.
We will have challenges, we will have setbacks, but those challenges and setbacks are the very things that we need to grow as individuals so that we can achieve our goal. Okay, so that is setbacks are so important. But the very first thing in achieving any goal is obviously being clear on what you want. You need to become crystal clear on what you want. And then of course you need to set action steps. I've said it many times in many of my videos. Just brainstorm action steps using mind mapping. Wonderful way of quickly coming up with ideas that will help you progress towards your goal. My mapping is wonderful. If you're not familiar with mind mapping, checkout my other videos, and I've explained this in a lot more detail, but before you brainstorm your action steps, you need to have a big why for each of your goals.
There needs to be a big motivating reason why you wish to achieve your goals. Because if you don't feel emotionally connected to your goals or if they don't excite you, nothing much changes. But got there. You know they're are literally dead in the water. But if you have goals that excites you, you can achieve them so much more easily. So how do you come up with the goals that truly excite you? Well, and this will save you so much time, so much time chasing after goals that may end up being dissatisfying or not what you expected. Find your big reason why for each of your goals, your big reason why. So say for example you want a new job that pays better, that could be your goal. Write it down. I want a new job that pays x amount by certain date, and then immediately after that you write the words so that I want to achieve new job that pays x amount by a certain date so that I can have more freedom to travel.
And then again, so that so that I can explore life and then keep drilling down so that I can find what I love doing the most. You keep drilling down by adding so that after each sentence and you come to, it's usually about the seventh layer deep. You'll find a big surge of emotion. Okay, where you're really - you've uncovered your big reason why now if you - by drilling down into your goals like this and you don't really have a very big reason why - you've just done yourself a big favor by not pursuing goals that could have taken up a lot of time and energy only to be unfulfilling. So that that's a really important exercise, finding your big reason why. So then as I say, you, you mind map, your action steps and then you need to take consistent actions. And how do you do that?
You need to use some sort of a, a daily planner that helps you progress your goals because if you only move towards your goals now and again, nothing much happens, but you know what? Baby steps add up. A Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and another step and another step. And before you know it, you've come very, very far. Anyone can write a book in two weeks if they set aside time only for writing for two weeks or within a few months. If they write up for only two hours a day, anyone can achieve great things very quickly, providing you budget the time and use some sort of a daily success planner. Now at the beginning of this video, I mentioned how when you set a goal or destination, you will encounter setbacks, challenges, things that try and stop you achieving that goal. So what do you do? Well, there's a very simple technique that can give you more momentum, more determination to keep moving forward. Because most people, let's face it, give up at the first or second or third hurdle. Very few people go on beyond that. So whenever you encounter a setback or a challenge that's preventing you from achieving your goal, write down on a piece of paper, all the things that all the ways it's causing you to suffer this problem, the setback, but also then after that, write down 10 ways where your life could improve by overcoming that setback. Okay? This is the carrot. This by squeezing out of your brain 10 ways that it will help your life, you'll find that you'll have a lot more motivation to break through instead of running away and giving up.
So this is really important. So do this very simple technique, very simple process. So it will give you more persistence and more desire to break through. So I hope you found this helpful.
