I've had some huge goals in life and many of them have appeared very daunting. But just understanding that small baby steps add up - this has changed everything for me and its that's enabled me to achieve really remarkable success in my life.

Hi, this is Mike Pettigrew, bestselling author and serial entrepreneur since 1987 and I help ordinary people achieve extraordinary goals, but not in the way you might think. Now, the next few minutes in this short video we're going to look at are you scared to go for your dreams? A lot of people are, and we're going to look at why that is and how to eliminate that fear forever because basically what - what stops people from achieving their dreams? What, what stops people from getting what, what it is that they want in life? Well, firstly, most people never try because of a few different reasons and we look at each one of these quickly. Firstly, they believe it won't be possible. They believe it won't even be possible, so why even try? They also think it's going to be too difficult. A lot of people look at their goal and they're overwhelmed before they even start.
That's a big one. Also, they're afraid of what other people will think. That's a prison of the mind. Worrying about what other people think. People will always think all sorts of things. And, and in a, in a way, it's none of our business what people think about us and our dreams. That's their business. Okay? And also a lot of people don't get started because they feel, or they believe that they will fail, that they believed that they'll fail and they don't want that. But you know what? Most successful people fail - fail many times. In fact, that's one of the biggest common denominators in highly successful people, that they fail much more than most people. But they dust - they dust themselves down. They get up and they try again. And they may fail again. And once again, they pick themselves up, dust themselves down and keep going.
And you know what? After failing at something many times, you get good at it. You get not necessarily get good at the failing, but you get good. You start to understand why you didn't achieve what it is that you want. You start learning about new ways. And one great example was Thomas Edison when he was inventing the incandescent light bulb. Uh, he failed supposedly 10,000 times. Can you imagine? Okay, that's not the sort of resilience that most people have. But giving up the first, second, or third hurdle is really why most people fail. So failure is important, but if you just stop and don't pick yourself up, that's the end of the story. So if you, but the reality here is if you don't go for your dreams, you can't create a better life. You really can't. Studies have taken place of people who set goals and people who don't, and generally their lives turn out very differently.
So you've got to set goals. Okay? So how do you overcome your fear of starting a dream? Well, firstly, realize that failure is often a precursor to success and persistence always pays off. And also be aware, be aware that all complex goals can be broken down into simple parts. Rome wasn't built in a day. And you know what? When you get started with your dream, when you get start moving towards your dream, the stepping stones will appear. Just the act of moving forwards, gains momentum and energy and those stepping stones will appear. And a wonderful way to see your way forwards in any goal is to do mind mapping. Mind map it out. And I've talked about this in many other videos, so I'm not going to repeat myself, but look into mind mapping. Number three, understand, understand that you can achieve anything by small, consistent daily actions - anything.
So if you have a very big goal and it just seems overwhelming, so why even bother to start? Just realize that you can achieve really anything - but just small baby steps do add up over a long period of time. I've had some huge goals in life and they have appeared very daunting. But just understanding this thing about small baby steps adding up, it's changed everything and its that's enabled me to achieve really remarkable success in my life. And also number four. Number four. Yeah, forget what other people think! You know what? When you are worried about what other people think, it robs you of energy is robs you of creativity, it keeps your life so small. And I know a lot of people who are really worried about what people think about them and their lives are very small. They stay in this small comfort zone and in most cases they feel very unfulfilled.
Later on in life. I've seen people like this who ended up very bitter and resentful and it's always someone else's fault. This is really sad. This is really sad. So don't let this happen to you. Forget about what other people think. This is your dream, your life, your mission. So all I can say is really if you have anything that you want to achieve in your life and everybody does - get started today, don't wait till tomorrow or this time next year because nothing much will have happened. Get started right now and this time next year life will be different. But if you don't get started this time, life - this time next year, nothing will have changed. Nothing will have changed.
